Yeah the deal would really have to knock their socks off.

When you get this kind of luck, you don't overthink, you just take it, draft one of the big 2, and step up your timetable.

Landeskog blows. Colorado would need to include more. And Duchene is going to cost a fortune to re-sign. They'd need to take AMac. And I'd probably make them take Wiese too. Moving down is something I wouldn't be thrilled about. It would take a huge overpayment for me to pull the trigger. Top 10 pick, blue chip prospect and a top six forward with them taking back whatever money that is needed to make it work. It's just not likely anyone offers as much.

That trade scenario with Landeskog would be a home run. Especially considering that the Avs would most likely be picking early in 2018, as well. Very unlikely, but fun to toy with the idea. It would also call for even more maneuvering/trades with some of the other forwards in the organization, though.

As you stated Bill, I dont' think HIschier or Patrick is regarded highly enough for any other team to make an offer that Hextall can't refuse. Here is an example of what it would take (for me at least), but I don't see Vancouver doing the deal.

To VAN: the 2nd overall pick, the Flyers 2nd round pick in 2017, Matt Read and Scott Laughton

TO PHL: Vancouvers 1st round pick in 2017 (#5) and Bo Horvat.

The Flyers get a top 6 center who is only 22 and who can be plugged right into the lineup and they still will land a very good prospect with the 5th overall pick. They also unload the last year of Read's deal. Vancouver gets POTENTIALLY a better player than Horvat with the 2nd overall pick, a relatively high 2nd rounder, a decent prospect and a guy who can help out a rebuilding club for one year.

I think Hexy would do this deal in a heartbeat, but Vancouver not so much.

I'm not overly impressed with Landeskog, certainly not enough to give up a chance to get Hischier or Patrick. I have no doubt Hexy will listen to all offers, politely decline, and draft whoever NJ doesnt pick.

Now I do see Hexy moving around some of those later round picks where he has multiples in each round.

This is see too. I think, considering this draft is not considered a deep one, he would be willing to part with a 3rd or a 4th to get Vegas to take someone he doesn't mind losing.

I can also see him packaging his 2nd and a 3rd to move up if there is a player still on the board at the start of the 2nd round that they really like.

Horvat is viewed as a potential star....I don't think Vancouver moves him for either kid with their pick.

Now the offer that Bill mentioned with Duschene included could make sense, because of the contract situation ....and if the Flyers like Vilardi and think he slips past 3... The added part about the draft pick potential swap would be the sealer....If the Ave's blow again which is a strong possibility, the Flyers could draw back into another top 5 pick. I have confidence that the Flyers pick next year will be somewhere in high teens to low 20's. (I hope so anyways).
Depends on who the Ave's are targeting and what they would think of the top 2 guys.

This type of deal happenes in the nba all the time, no reason to think it couldn't happen here. Its a high price to pay, but if you think about it, all the avs lose is Duchene, they still keep both first rounders, get a young player to build their future off. Also the front office of the AVS is kind of a mess and Sackic might be willing to make a gamble of this kind.

I think that is really his point. the type of deal that would be something to make Hextall pull the trigger is probably something that the "other" team wouldn't be willing to do. stand pat, take whoever NJ doesn't take.

I really want to the Flyers builds a strong defense ala Nashville and get faster.

Yup, like I said, Hexy would do that deal with Vancouver in a NY minute, the Nucks, not so much.

Agreed and I think they are well on their way. It's still going to be rocky for a couple more seasons, but good times are coming soon.

I think there is a chance a team like the avs would go for that type of deal.

Just can't see Colorado offering that. It's a no brainer for the flyers if they had a pick swap with Colorado in 2018. That's the most valuable piece of the deal with next years class being an excellent one

Keep in mind that if it turns out to be true that the draft is not a deep one, teams might be more reluctant to move down.

your getting your wish....the Flyers have a nice stable of quality young D prospects that are about to arrive....Kid's like Konecny and Vecchione can skate. If they stand pat at two....then chances are they will add Hischier who really gets around the ice.

Actually the way Bill had it set up is for them to send us PLayer X AND the 4th overall pick in return for our 2 overall pick.

I know it's preseason but watch the replay of the very first highlight. Myers and sanheim dishing it around at the point until they find an open player. We have serious talent knocking on the door

Like draft AMac and we will send you a 3rd and a 4th? (or maybe a 2nd and our first 4th?)

(could you imagine?)
